How to make a Lockdown Mother’s Day extra special

A group of hands all holding Gin cocktails over a table.

After a difficult year it can feel impossible to make events feel special, but that’s all the reason to try our best to make it happen anyway. Luckily, we’ve put together some ideas for you so you can show Mum you really care.

Whether we can see our mums in person this Mother’s Day, or have to keep our distance, there are plenty of ways we can celebrate everything they do for us. Going out is off the cards but we’ve got plenty of ways to create the same excitement at home.

  1. Gin Tasting Evening

So, you may not be able to go out to the bar and raise a toast to your mum, but you can create the fun at home! Bring the bar to her with a gin-tasting at home.

The Spirit of Life gift set offers a 4 mini bottles of each Didsbury Gin flavour, so it’s the answer to any at-home gin tasting. Buy one for yourself and one for mum (plus mixers) then get on a video chat to start trying them together!

  • Gift an at home spa!

A classic Mother’s Day gift is the spa day but that’s not exactly an accessible option at the moment. Let’s take the components of that spa trip and send them to Mum instead… create an at home spa hamper!

There are plenty of worthy additions, such as bath bombs, candles, bath salts, soap and skincare.

Top it off with some premium treats like some gourmet biscuits and fancy tea, or of course a bottle of Didsbury Gin and her favourite tonic.

  • Order her favourite food.

You may not be able to share dinner with your mum this time around, so treat her to her favourite dinner instead. Countless restaurants have begun offering a takeaway or delivery option for their food over the course of the last year. Check out your mother’s favourite restaurant and see if they’re doing it too!

If you’re lucky enough to be living with mum, take it a step further and take time to plate up the delicious meal you’ve ordered for her. A small action such as this can make a meal feel 10x more special, and that’s what she deserves.

  • Local walks

From the 8th March we’re allowed to meet with one other person outside of our household and now that the weather is getting warmer, it’s the perfect time to get out on a spring walk and have that long awaited (IN-PERSON!) catch up with Mum!

Why not give your walk an extra boost with our tinned cocktails? Bartender quality tipples, ready to drink on the go. Available to buy here.

The end is in sight now and we will eventually be able to celebrate the ones we love in person. Until then, try out our suggestions and make sure you tag us at @Didsbury_Gin on Instagram and @DidsburyGin on twitter with the #DGatHome.

Happy Mother’s Day!
